Opening hours

The Base Café at Cable Bay Adventure Park is open year round, 7 days per week, including all public holidays except Christmas day, where we are closed.
We have no public surcharge on public holiday dates. Bookings recommended for groups of 8+ especially in the winter where we have fewer staff on

Our current open hours from May - August 2026 are Monday - Sunday, from 9am - 4pm

Monday’s & Tuesday’s we have our cabinet options, Soup of the day, toasties, chips and wedges available plus all beverages

Wednesday’s - Sunday’s we have all of the above plus our new Breakfast & Burger menu

Food & Drinks

The Base Café stocks a range of local beverages from the likes of Hop Federation, Eddyline, McCashins, Pomeroys Tea’s and Coffee, and a selection of juices from the Chia Sisters.

Our offerings include a range of fresh cabinet food prepared daily, FAMOUS for our delicious cheese scones, chorizo sausage rolls and gourmet pies with a few sweet options to seal the deal.
We have an everyday, A-la-carte menu and a daily specials board which includes soup of the day plus our weekend Roast which starts from June -August.
Our menu has the likes of homemade burgers, all day breakfast, loaded wedges, chips & delicious toasties on homemade bread.

We have options to suit most dietary requirements including Vegan and Gluten Free - don’t see a dietary listed? Just ask us!

Do I need a reservation?

No reservation required if a small few of you but if you have a large group of 8+ or have a specific time frame you can call ahead and reserve a spot. Note that in the summer holidays especially we do get very busy. We’ll let you know at ordering if there may be a longer than usual wait.

Birthday parties

Having a kids birthday? We have a kids menu for under 12’s that have 6 options and all include chips and choice of cold drink, hot chocolate or ice cream. Party goodie bags are available for an extra $5 with a minimum booking of 5people - pre bookings needed.

You are more than welcome to bring a birthday cake free of charge, we’re happy to provide side plates and napkins and a light!

Looking for an activity as well? We have perfect options available for kids, for the young ones, a visit to the farm animals and eels
6+ can have a go on our epic Skywire Experience. 10years old and up can battle it out in paintball which is great for birthdays!

We ask respectably that only food and beverages purchased from our Base Cafe be consumed on the Base Cafe premises

Catering & Bespoke menus

We offer catering from our Cafe for functions and can also serve catering off site. We have another venue situated up in the native forest at 300m in elevation, wonderful views out to Delaware bay, Cable Bay and further West to the Kahurangi ranges. If you have a corporate event, end of year function or wedding reception and would like to discuss options see the Groups and Functions page. We can cater these with buffet or set menu options and also combine activity packages to make a half or full day outing.
